The process of building your ultimate voyager can be challenging - Our project manager takes away all of the stress, allowing you to concentrate on the best parts of bringing your vision to reality as we understand that Vanlife is entirely what you make of it!
With a large transformation vision for small spaces, including tiny homes, our detailed step by step interior design process, dream team of certified builders, plumbers, carpenters and electricians, we are here to manage your dream build from start to finish. Whether it’s a luxury Yotchi design that you’re after or an outback cruiser with a pop up tent on the roof, we can build anything. Work with our team to design the bespoke interior of your very own brand new Land Yot!
What does this look like? We will help you choose your van, plan your design, install comforts like electricity and plumbing and manage the entire fit out start to finish. During our very first consultation, we will refine budgets, narrow down the options and get into the creative before finalising the delivery time of your tiny but large, very practical space.
Step 1. Let’s Chat.
Let’s organise a call and talk though your conversion inquiry, current situation and budget. Are you looking for a van or do you already have one? What type of van are you interested in? Would you like to discuss finance options? Any information you have to share with us is helpful for us in the next stages.
Step 2: Chose Your Van
At Yotchi, we like to work with Mercedes Sprinters. However Mercedes offer a range of vans to chose from as well as large areas to build within which includes heavier weight loads. Alas - so do a number of car brands. Talk to us about what your van’s primary purpose is and we can help narrow down the options as well as keep your budget in mind. For example, a Mercedes Short Wheel Base Sprinter (like The Baltic and The
Cortez) is $85K for the van alone.
Our Short wheel bases 144” Sprinter generally range between $170K - $250K for a full conversion. (depending on the materials and wheelbase) Our Long wheel bases 170” Sprinter or Long between $190K -$300K for a full conversion. (depending on the materials and wheelbase). We currently have one Long Wheel base and one 4WD short wheel base available for conversion.
Step 3: Reserve Your Spot
If you decide that Yotchi are the outfitters for you, we require a $2,000 deposit to reserve our next production spot. Four weeks before the project is set to begin is when we will get
started on your design and estimate.
Step 4: Design Layout
After reserving your production spot and van, it’s time to get to work creating your layout. You may have a specific layout in mind, or choose from previous layouts that we have built. Either way, we work with your wish list to design a layout option that works best for you.
Step 5: Key Decisions
This is where we start to incorporate the style into your layout and we implement lighting and ventilation, as well as either an inside or outside bathroom - a roof deck or sky bed? What lighting mood would you like to achieve? We talk through the
must-have’s and costs associated with all options.
Step 6: Materials
The materials that you chose will pave the way for your overall interior look. We talk through the flooring, walls, bench top options and colour scheme. Maybe you aspire to creating a Balinese styled interior or a Moroccan vibe? This step is a lot of fun and where we lock down how to specifically build the
interior outcome that you want.
Step 7: Set Up The System
The Yotchi van system consists of power and battery, audio and visual and plumbing and gas. The vans are battery operated through solar power with the ability to recharge externally while at powered sites or from the 500 watt solar panels for an off grid trip. The system offers 240V internal power which is regulated by an inverter for maximum power sustainability. This makes the Yotchi van an easy option to live in for those who are travelling or remaining stationary. In addition, we offer air-conditioning, gas cooking, hot water systems and premier media systems.
Step 8: Finalise Design And Budget Lock
Once we have formulated a layout and list of items and services for your van conversion, we will send you a detailed estimate and design for your project for revision and any last changes. Of course, because the work is custom, pricing for your conversion will really depend on the materials and
features that you are interested in.
Step 9: Create A Schedule
A timeline is provided from our production team covering the different phases of your van build. Within the schedule we pencil in shop visits so that you can see your van build in progress. If you live remotely from the factory, we can jump on
regular FaceTime calls.
Step 10: Production Begins
This is where the magic happens! We require the 50% deposit at the beginning, 35% after the first half of the project and the
remaining 15% upon pickup.
Step 11: Completion
Today is the day that you collect your van. After a few days of test-driving at our end, you are free to collect your brand new
bespoke van or we can deliver it to you.
